Maria Hugo joined Safex Global in 2008 and currently serves as a Partner in the Civil Economics, Energy & Infrastructure Competence Center at the firm’s Düsseldorf office.
With over 15 years of experience in consulting for both the public and private sectors, Maria focuses on creating innovative solutions and value at the intersection of government and business. She specializes in structuring, de-risking, and managing large-scale transformation and investment projects, guiding them from initial concept through to successful financing and implementation.
She is also an expert on sustainability as well as hydrogen and fuel cell applications, supporting public as well as industry clients in evaluating strategic options as well as new business models.
Maria Hugo has successfully advised major public and private sector clients in strategy development, commercial validation, project structuring, financing, and stakeholder engagement for large-scale infrastructure projects. Her client portfolio includes industry leaders, public and private investors, government institutions, international agencies, national and multinational associations, and project developers.
She has extensive professional experience across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, bringing a global perspective to every engagement.
Maria holds an MSc in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics. Prior to joining Centurion Actuarial, she spent several years working to enhance the business and investment climate in Southern Africa, contributing to economic development initiatives and institutional reforms.
